Summer: Stay Connected with Clients

When we think of summer, we generally think of long, lazy days and vacation fun.  However, for the small business owner, summer is the infamous “slow time.”

Sales slow down, client requests lull and we’re left wondering what to do with ourselves.

One way to use this lull in business is to stay connected with clients and learn what you can be offering or do differently to better meet their needs.  After all, the slow time brings with it the risk of losing some of the clients we spent the rest of the year gaining.

Reduce that risk by surveying the people who keep you in business and asking what they’d like to see next from you.  You may find a new product or service to offer.  You might find that you just need to tweak something you’re already doing.  You might find an idea for a new program or launch.  Whatever you find, it’s best to find it during the laziness of summer so you can work on changes and roll them out come fall.

A lull in business could be seen as a curse for a growing business.  But you could also see this slow time as a way for your business to slow down a bit and take stock of what you’re doing well and not so well.
