My chat today was with expert marketing and copywriter Lisa Manyon of Write On Creative. Lisa is the leading expert in copywriting and online marketing strategies. My favorite saying of hers is “website copy is queen and strategy is king” because you really can’t have one without the other. It’s a perfect marriage of sorts, as copy and strategy have to work well together in order to achieve the results you’re looking for, which is to make money while fulfilling your clients’ needs.
Like many entrepreneurs, Lisa wanted to work on her own terms and choose her own clients. Combining her lifetime passion for writing and marketing with in-depth experience in advertising agencies, radio and non-profits, she realized her dream was to give women a voice by turning their ideas into something that matters.
Lisa primarily works with female entrepreneurs who are authors, artists, coaches and speakers. They are women who want to build relationships with their readers before selling them something. Lisa’s work allows her to easily capture their voice while also incorporating proven techniques into her copywriting.
Two valuable tips Lisa shared with me were:
1. Really know who you’re talking to and make your website about them (the reader) not you.
2. Clearly state what’s in it for them to do business with you. What needs or wants are you meeting or fulfilling?
Today’s consumers are smarter than they’ve ever been. They’re also pickier than they’ve ever been. Creating an online strategy and killer website copy are key to turning a prospect into a client.
